Women Shaping Idaho
The First One-to-One Million Gathering
April 17-19 | McCall, Idaho
Idaho is held together by women like you. Most of the time, no one says that out loud.
You are the one people call.
The one who notices when something is off.
The one who holds the family together, the community together—often all at once.
Often without anyone naming what that actually is.
That is leadership. And it has been shaping Idaho long before anyone put it in a job title.
One-to-One Million begins with that recognition.
This gathering is where it starts—in person, with 25 women at the edge of Payette Lake.
April 17–19 | Shore Lodge | McCall, Idaho
What is One-to-One Million?
One-to-One Million is a multi-year initiative built on a simple idea: one person can influence the people around them. Over time, that influence grows.
The work begins in Idaho with women and mothers who already serve as steady anchors in their families, workplaces, and communities—often through the daily practice of caregiving, coordination, and showing up for others.
The research brings this into focus.
Our Gallup Built With Care study reveals a clear tension:
• 74% of Idaho mothers say being a mother is the most important part of who they are
• Nearly half say they are not comfortable speaking up or asking for help
• 44% say their communities do not provide enough support for their wellbeing
Taken together, these findings reveal a powerful contradiction. Motherhood and caregiving are deeply meaningful sources of identity and responsibility, yet many women feel unable to fully express their needs, perspectives, or experiences.
One-to-One Million builds from this insight by asking, “What becomes possible when the women already holding communities together are more fully recognized, connected, and supported?”
This gathering marks an early leadership circle for One-to-One Million—a space to begin that conversation together and help shape what comes next.
Why This Gathering Now
Idaho is changing. Communities that once felt stable are navigating new pressures.
The women holding those communities together often do so with little recognition and limited support.
One-to-One Million begins by changing that.
This gathering is a conversation about caregiving as formative leadership, about Idaho’s future, and about what becomes possible when women who are already leading begin leading together.
It also arrives at a meaningful national moment. As the United States approaches its 250th anniversary, communities across the country are reflecting on where we have been and what kind of future we want to build.
This gathering offers Idaho women a chance to be part of that reflection—to consider the role women and mothers play in shaping strong families, resilient communities, and the next chapter of our state.
It is thoughtful, grounded, and real.
It is also three days in one of the most beautiful places in Idaho, where you can exhale.
This Gathering Is For You
Across Idaho, women are guiding families, organizations, and communities through a time of change.
This gathering brings together women whose leadership reaches beyond a single role or title. You are someone people turn to when things get difficult. When connection breaks down. When someone needs to hold the center.
You might be:
A mother whose leadership spans both home and professional life
A community anchor in nonprofit, civic, faith, or neighborhood life
A founder or organizational leader carrying significant responsibility
A woman who knows the work she does is shaping Idaho’s future
Someone who wants to contribute to the shaping of One-to-One Million
The women in this room bring perspective from across Idaho’s families, businesses, organizations, and communities. If you recognize yourself in this, you belong in the room.

Our Gathering Ground
The retreat takes place at Shore Lodge on Payette Lake, surrounded by mountains, water, and open sky.
Everyone stays onsite. Meals, sessions, and gathering spaces are all within walking distance.
Once you arrive, the weekend takes care of itself.
The group is 25 women—small enough to be real, large enough to matter.
What We Will Do Together
This retreat centers on a core idea: the leadership formed through caregiving—through tending, repairing, connecting, and holding—is the same capacity Idaho needs to shape its future.
Together we will explore what that leadership looks like, how it formed you, and what becomes possible when it is supported and recognized.
The weekend includes:
Guided leadership conversations with Shannon McGuire
Small-group dialogue and reflection
Shared meals and meaningful connection
Time outdoors in McCall’s natural setting
A private screening of POTATO, Supreme Moms’ documentary about belonging and community in Idaho
There will also be space simply to breathe—walk the lake, rest, think, and let ideas settle.
That time is not separate from the work. It is part of it.
FRIDAY
Arrive and Exhale
Settle in, slow down, and gather for a fun welcome reception and private screening of POTATO.
SATURDAY
Go Deeper
Guided conversations explore caregiving as formative leadership and how women are shaping Idaho’s future.
SUNDAY
Carry it Forward
Reflection on what shifted, what feels clear, and how the ripple continues. Closing by noon.
What this Gathering Creates
The retreat creates space to step away from everyday responsibilities, reflect on the work that matters most, and spend time in thoughtful conversation with others who share that commitment.
Over two days, participants will:
Recognize the capabilities caregiving forms
Caregiving requires people to read situations, coordinate relationships, manage uncertainty, and sustain stability for others. These capabilities shape families, workplaces, and communities, yet they are rarely named.
Explore the gap between responsibility and voice
Built With Care research shows that while motherhood is central to many women’s identities, many still hesitate to speak up or ask for support. This conversation helps participants reflect on that experience and consider how voice can grow stronger in communities and organizations.
Connect with women shaping communities across Idaho
The retreat brings together women from business, nonprofit work, civic leadership, and community initiatives who share a desire to contribute meaningfully to the places they live.
Consider what becomes possible together
Participants reflect on how the insights and relationships formed in the room may shape future collaboration, community efforts, and the broader One-to-One Million initiative.
Women Shaping Idaho is a gathering designed for reflection, connection, and thoughtful conversation among women who care about the future of their communities.
